    Wood Burner Installationin Ringwood

Ringwood sits on the western edge of the New Forest where the River Avon winds through the Hampshire floodplain. It's a market town with a history stretching back to the Domesday Book, and its housing reflects that - from medieval cottages around the Market Place to Georgian townhouses, Victorian terraces, and modern estates spreading towards Poulner and Avon Castle. We've fitted stoves across all of them.

Bespoke Wood Burners for Ringwood Homes

Ringwood's oldest properties cluster around the Market Place and the church, with medieval and Georgian buildings whose chimneys have stood for centuries. These old stacks are often structurally sound but internally pitted from decades of coal and wood fires - we camera-survey every chimney before recommending a liner, and we frequently find that a flexible stainless liner is essential to make the chimney safe for a modern stove.

Out towards Poulner, Avon Castle, and Hightown, the housing is more varied: 1930s semis, 1960s bungalows, and modern executive builds. The 1930s properties typically have usable brick chimneys that take liners well, while the 1960s bungalows often have narrow or blocked flues that need twin-wall systems. The newer builds around Crow Arch Lane and the A31 corridor mostly have no chimney at all.

Ringwood's position on the Avon floodplain means some older properties have damp issues in ground-floor walls, which affects hearth specification. We use moisture-resistant hearth construction methods and advise on ventilation to prevent the condensation that can occur when a stove is installed in a property with rising damp. It's a detail that matters in this specific location.

    Local Knowledge

What We Know About Ringwood Homes

Two decades of installing stoves in Ringwood means we understand the local housing stock, building styles, and planning rules better than anyone.

Medieval Cottages Around the Market Place

The cottages around Ringwood Market Place and Meeting House Lane include some of the town's oldest buildings, several dating to the 16th and 17th centuries. These timber-framed or cob-walled properties have large inglenook fireplaces that have often been narrowed or blocked over the years. We open them back up, line the chimney with a flexible liner, and fit a stove that suits the scale of the original opening - often a large-format cast iron model that fills the inglenook visually and delivers serious heat output.

    Georgian Townhouses on Christchurch Road

The Georgian townhouses along Christchurch Road and the High Street have tall, narrow chimneys that draw well but are oversized for modern stoves. A flexible liner matched to the stove's flue diameter improves efficiency and prevents tar buildup in the chimney. These properties typically have elegant fireplace openings that suit a cast iron stove with a slate or stone hearth - a combination that respects the period character while delivering modern heating performance.

    Poulner Bungalows & Chimneyless Estates

The bungalows and houses in Poulner, north of the town centre, are mostly 1960s and 1970s builds with narrow or unusable chimneys. Many have had their chimney stacks removed or capped over the years. We fit twin-wall insulated flue systems that run externally in dark powder-coated finish or internally through a bedroom cupboard. For the newer estates off Crow Arch Lane, the same twin-wall approach gives a clean, modern installation with no chimney required.

    Avon Valley Barn Conversions

The barn conversions in the Avon Valley around Ringwood - particularly towards Blashford and Bickton - give us the height and space to run dramatic exposed flue systems that become a design feature. These conversions often have no original chimney, so a twin-wall flue rising through a double-height space creates a striking visual centrepiece as well as delivering excellent draw. We finish the flue in brushed stainless or powder-coated black to suit the interior.
